Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy

Everyone who works on or visits an SI site goes home safe and well. No programme date is worth more than that.

Our commitments

  • Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), the equivalent laws in every state and territory where we work, and the associated regulations and codes of practice.
  • Identify hazards and assess risk before work starts, and control it using the hierarchy of controls.
  • Prepare a Safe Work Method Statement for high-risk construction work and review it with the crew before the task begins.
  • Work under the client’s permits, isolations and site rules. No work on plant that has not been isolated and proven.
  • Give every worker the authority, and the obligation, to stop work they believe is unsafe, without penalty.
  • Provide induction, training, supervision and the right equipment, including PPE, for every task.
  • Consult with workers on matters that affect their health and safety.
  • Report and investigate incidents and near misses, and act on what we learn.
  • Manage fatigue and support mental health and wellbeing.
  • Hold subcontractors to the same standard as our own people.

Responsibilities

The Director is accountable for this policy and for providing the resources to meet it. Supervisors are responsible for planning work safely and enforcing it on site. Every worker is responsible for their own safety, the safety of others and for speaking up.

This policy applies to all SI Critical Systems employees, contractors and subcontractors. It is reviewed annually, and after any significant incident or change.
