Recycled water pipeline to supply NEXTDC’s S4 Sydney campus

coNEXA will spend A$250 million extending its Western Sydney recycled-water network to the 365 MW Horsley Park campus.

What happened

  • Up to 16 ML a day from coNEXA’s Fairfield plant, around 5.8 billion litres a year.
  • Privately funded and approved by IPART. Construction starts in November, with first water expected in late 2027.
  • S4 is designed for up to 365 MW of IT load, targeting Tier IV and a design PUE of 1.125.
  • Reported as the largest recycled-water supply agreement for an Australian data centre.

Why it matters

Recycled water changes the commissioning job on the facility side. Its chemistry varies more than town water, so the facility water system needs a defined flush, treatment and acceptance check before handover, with the evidence kept in the commissioning record.
